Reviving the Abandoned Sunnah!

Postby Dhers » Tue Mar 11, 2008 12:52 pm

Asalamu alaykum bro/sizz, insha Allah I hope that we can have a long-lasting thread in which he add sunnah practises that we can do in our busy lives! So plz add a sunnah practise, be it big or small, that we may insha Allah not have even known about and it start practising it in our daily lives!

Here are two sunnah practises by the prophet (pbuh) when he used to enter the toilet and he relieve himself. I know it may be small but insha Allah it can increase our taqwa immensely!

[O Allaah, verily I seek refuge in you from all evil things. It could also mean, O Allaah, verily I seek refuge in you from the male and female jinns [4]]. It is known that the jinn like to inhabit places of filth, such as toilets and camel pens and that is why we have been ordered to seek refuge in Allaah from their harm when we enter the toilet.

Forgot to add that when entering the washroom you must go with your left leg first and then say ''bismillah'' so the jinns won't see your cawra.

When leaving home to go to Masjid or elsewhere, read the following du'aa with concern:

"I have come out in the Name of Allah. I have put my trust in Allah. There is no power to refrain from sins and no strength to worship Him without the Help of Allah"

It is stated in a Hadeeth that whoever reads this du'aa upon leaving the home, Shaytaan abstains from misleading or inflicting harm to him

Asalamu alaykum jazaki allahu khayrun for the input. Here is another sunnah practise of our beloved prophet (pbuh). Putting on your shoes starting with the right foot, and taking them off starting with the left foot: Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "When any of you puts on his shoes, he should put on the right one first; and when he takes them off, he should begin with the left. Let the right shoe be the first to be put on and the last to be taken off.''

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Whoever sits in a gathering and indulges in useless talk and before getting up supplicates: `Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilaika (O Allah, You are free from every imperfection; praise be to You. I testify that there is no true god except You; I ask Your Pardon and turn to You in repentance),' he will be forgiven for (the sins he may have intentionally or unintentionally committed) in that assembly.'' [At-Tirmidhi].

Anyway for the entering the bathroom one should say:

Acudubillahi min'al sheytani rajim
Acudubillahi min al jini wal khobsi wal khaba'it
Bismilah

You should also say Bismilah when your taking off or putting on your cloths aswell.

Asalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabaraktuhu, you mean transliterations? Yes insha Allah I'll do that, the boards were acting weird and not allowing me to do it so insha Allah if it works now I'll do it. Anywayzzz...here are two other sunnahs of the Prophet (saws): fulfilling the apetite before salah in regards to keep khushoo and restraining from overstuffing or overindulging in regards to khushoo and laziness in salah.

Sunnahs before sleeping:
To sleep on the right hand side
To refrain from sleeping on ones stomach
To sleep on a bed or to sleep on the floor are both sunnah
To face Qiblah
To recite Surah Mulk, before sleeping
To recite Ayatul Kursi
To recite Surah Ikhlaas, Surah Falaq and Surah Naas before sleeping 3 times and thereafter blow over the entire body thrice
Recite Tasbeeh-e-Fathima before sleeping = subhanallah 33 times, alhamdulilah 33 times and allahu akbar 34 times.

No what i mean was not the translation but the pronounciation of it written in english like 'Asalaam Calykum' or 'Bismilahi Al Rahmani Al Rahim'.

ALSO, try to be sure you sleep with WUDU on because;
1..if you die in that state you'll met Allah purified and Allah(swt) love that.
2..The prophet (saw) narrated that Allah will appoint a special angel to sleep by you and make du'caa for you throghout the night, so when you turn or get figit the angel will make ducaa 'ohh Allah forgive his person' 'Oh allah have mercy upon this soul' ..etc etc!

Allahu Akbour.

JazzakAllu Khairen for the topic sis
