female genital mutilation

Postby Eigth » Thu Oct 27, 2005 10:21 am

Read this: http://www.amnesty.org/ailib/intcam/femgen/fgm1.htm#a1

Many countries practise procedures which would be considered abhorrent within our own society, however do you think this means that organisations such as Amnesty International should step in? Is it wrong to attempt to eradicate cultural practices such as this when it may be accepted within other societies? I'd be interested to hear what other people think about this subject!
