Re: WE WELCOME SOMALILAND TO JOINT FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA
^^ You are very naive in international politics. Somaliland does not need every country in Africa to recognise it, Only one country with which s/land has good political relations with like South Africa, Senegal or Ethiopia needs to recognise it and the rest follow. Also the European Union said the AU should take the lead on this issue but they did not rule out recognising somaliland without the AU's input. What they informally said was wait for the outcome of this new (TFG) government, if it collapses like the previous two then we the European Union will find it morally wrong to keep somaliland in limbo. So if this TFG government is successful which looks unlikely, then somaliland has the choice whether to join the new federal somalia or continue on their chosen path. To say they have zero chance of recognition is totally wrong.
That's beside the point, one hates his abtiyaals and the other who's a full issaq doesnt it.
sxb. Let us clear somethings up here. By the way you and that so call Genan SNM sounded off, you are saying by believing in the concept of Somaliland, one becomes a hatefull towards others.
That is just bit disrespectful to millions of Somalilanders out there who call somaliland their home. We don't believe in unity, that is that. It has nothing to do with a hate we have towards others.
Gen. SNM,
Before you throw towel in with these catz have you asked them if they even have legitimate government. Don't just cheer lead for anything that has the name of 'somalia' in. First seek the truth, then follow.
Gosh do we have to school these catz always!

Nobody is going to recognise Somaliland in my opinion. I wish the TFG to die quickly so that we can replace it with a more decent governement with wich then Somaliland could talk to.Let's face it people we're being stood up here

its been 17 years.
what if they never do manage to form another government in the next 20 years?
can you wait indefinatley?
while we lose hundreds of millions in trade and investment.
the rest of somalia is incapable of forming a government, they have proven that.
if in the future the hawiye put thier differances aside and form a government, the majerteen will dissassociate themselves from the government, and resist, even to the point of attempted independance for puntland, sparking another cycle of war.
frankly i believe we dont have to wait.

Personaly we isaaq are the missing link as far as peace is concernd in somalia.
We need to look at this situation from a different angle, instead of saying to the international community look at these somali's they cant even get their house in order, we should get this house in order for ourself, becouse our interest is best served through a united strong democratic somalia.
And with us on board i think the crazy politicians will be out numberd.
Somaliland will not gain independence, and we are wasteing time and energy..
17 years wasted chasing a pipe dream, and it's not you and me that suffer, but people back home Not the once being supported from the west by their reletives, couse thats how people are surviveing back home.

Re: WE WELCOME SOMALILAND TO JOINT FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA
Gurey my honorable friend , it's been 17 yrs of Somaliland pursuing independence, not ONE day have we said we were willing to work anything with the rest of our brothers .
quote-->"the rest of somalia is incapable of forming a government, they have proven that."
I do not agree , for we in Somaliland have a simpler equation since Isaaq are the dominant political force . In that scope we ain't any different than Puntland who in 10 yrs managed to establish a relative peaceful structure in their region .
PS: I'd be willing to go as far as saying { on the record } that the Majeerteen are politically more courageous than us , but at what cost though

inabaxar,
couragous or simply more selfish and ultimatley smarter.
We fougth 10 years for our freedom, and we didnt have any appetite for more war,
or imposing our will on the rest of somalia, thats why we went down the road of independance.
ofcourse the USC dissolution dissaster and ali mahdi calling himself president helped as well.
you know as well as i do that the majority of SNM had no interest in independance,
the lack of a credible partner in the south was the deciding factor.
now back to the differance between Puntland and somaliland.
reer puntland have been more ambitious and cynical becuase in the end all that they have done was to their ultimate advantage.
compare Somaliland that inherited more of the SNA millitary assests than aideeds USC
and potentially had more men under arms, to the rest of somalia.
we all know the damage aideed did from mudug to the juba valley.
we simple made peace and expected everyone else to behave like us.

Gurey ,I firmly believe we still need to engage Puntland and the rest of the Somalis, even if in the process I have to downplay some of our acheivements and recognise all of our counterparts as equal.
