Sectarian violence has flared up lately on Somnet. The usual heated clan violence has given room to heated sectarian violence between American-Salafi and co...against the ICU-supporters on this net!


Pick up your guns, and quran/hadith-quotations...its time to bombard each other with quote's from the quran and hadith.

This is why I always believed that it is unwise to mix politics and religion, especially in Somalia, where the new sect of American-salafi wants to make us believe that it is haram to rebel against warlords and traitors.

Agree wholeheartedly. The level of Iman to implement Islam in politics has to be too great. Even great men like Cumar Bin Khattab used to feel the weight of it, let alone people in Somalia. I think we should have a transparant Gov for now, and citizens should be free in their Islamic work. However the Gov has to still have a moral concious.


Btw, Somaliweyn have you noticed how most true Religious people are very indifferent when it comes to politics?

Islam and Politics interwine

the spread of Islam was also in part with the spread of the state our belowed Nabi Sallahu Alayhi Wasallam created in Medina

the thing is, the QURAN tells us to fight oppressors,

that is made clear so many times!

but i agree that stuff like shia and sunni is a political thing and it has divided the Muslims even more, so you have some merit

Somalis are not good enough Muslims to implement Islam properly with justice sxb. until they could do that we should go with a transparant secular system for NOW, and think about implementing Sharicah when we're up for the challenge. I'd rather take neopitism and injustice in a secular then a Islamic system due to the hypocracy.

Mixing religion and politics in Somalia is a funny and weid mix.

For example during the courts and warlords conflict...there were sheekhs (not even suufi ones) that were hardcore on the side of the warlords

How can someone who prays 5 times, knowes the quran by heart/memory, went to hadj, payes sadaqa/zakat, is a respected aged sheikh support warlords?

Thats why I believe that religion and politics in Somalia should be separated, let people justify their believes on the basis of other things but the religion...because their actions would only make them look fools, and not to forget paint a bad image of the religion.

Who can forget Lacaglyag's famous "Radhiyallahu Canhu" in reference to Indacadde?

Politics is a dirty game, especially in Somalia and I don't think Religion should be dragged in the mud. Its not like I don't believe Islam is the answer, but I think anything less than true Islam in politics would be a disaster especially in Somalia.

don't get us wrong. we would love to live in a muslim society that lives by the harmonious, just laws of our religion. What muslim would not want this? We have to be realistic though, it takes time to build such a society, and step by step we will lay the foundations for that society so that insha allah in the future our children or grand-children can live in such a society.

But, in the current state, I rather prefer that Somalia becomes a developed country with a clear system like in the West and parts of Asia...at least lets get the basics right...we know how the West and Asian countries developed..their formula to progess is right there in the open...lets apply it and achieve a certain level of advancement.

Gradually from there on we can lay the foundations for a future Islamic state/society like Maleysia which has a majority muslim population is doing now.


But in no scenario will we allow hypocricy to be introduced in our religion by opportunistic political groups.
