You are paying the price for opting for a lower monthly premuims. Increase your premuim and reduce all those other expenses. If you think I don't go to the doctor that often hence I will not pay higher premuim, then bear the others costs the one time you go see the doc.

I remember doing a comparative essay between the NHS and the U.S. healthcare system for PoliSci, what a nightmare that was.

Yes but the prescription charge is a set price even for expensive drugs.
Thank god for the NHS and Great Britain, God Save the Queen

Niya,
Unfortunately, I don't have that option of choosing my premium rate. They are set by the company. We used to have multiple HMOs but now only have one.
Kolombo,
Which one overall was better ?
The best health care system in America is for members of Congress & the Executive branch (White House) & the Supreme Court. Top rate care at affordable prices.

AW,
They both advantages & disadvantages, prior to doing my research, I thought the NHS would come out the winner, but bureaucracy was a major issue with it. Unlike the U.S., everything in the UK is nationalized, the government after WWII chose a welfare system similar to many in Europe, but the technology is lacking. In the U.S., government plays very limited role in most things, privatization yields better technology, but it also causes corporate greed.
