most somali alcoholics i met r either from somaliland or from little villages (former nomads) from somalia. they think drinking alcohol will make you a civilised person. start with ur qaldan relatives in somalinet, if u succeed with them, somalinet admin will refer costa and HAUDflower 2 u.

American Suufi, In my experience of alcoholics, I have noticed a pattern between alcohol abuse and insecurity, some of it real others imagined. For example you are from some minority group in xammer thus highly likely to turn to alcohol abuse for comfort and escape. People who abuse alcohol do it for a reason, yours could be to run away from HG.

I'm really baffled by what could make a Muslim drink alcohol let alone become alcoholic. It would be enlightening if someone could cite 3-5 reasons.

their family - u cant belive how many people i know who fathers have a jack daniel after they spit out their taqsiin

enviroment - some people start drinking at uni when they first taste abit of freedom and go of the rails ( this mostly applies to xalimos with strict parents and then are allowed to move away for uni)

all in all its weak minded people who fall into these addictions

Actually no, but I did witness alot of faraaxs and Xalimos who get cought up with Alcohol and drugs. Most of those kids didn't have strong family support and college was some emotional escape for them. Wallahi I talk to many and I still fail to understand it. I used to have this Engineering friend that we did Calculus together, the dude was a straight A in all his classes when he didn't drink but Sadly ended up dropping at junior year b/c of the habit.

I was just jokin, it's not just somalis but arabs, turks and all other muslims drink. Laakin, it's the somali's that become addicts, everything is extremes with somali's even with alcohol they have to abuse it. Not that I'm saying a moderate drinker is any better.
