You are accepting a life of slavery, it's symbolic of your obedienceSir-Luggoyo wrote:Horta does anyone know the significance of getting on one knee? What does it indicate

Something along those linesTo show the woman of his dreams that he is willing to submit to the demands of marriage. Sort of like a Knight submitting to a King in the old days. It shows a powerful person submitting to a powerful leader, except in this case it is with a life partner not a ruler, altho there are some who would disagree with that.
Somalis say 'waan kutuuga jilbaha aan kaa qabsanaa' I guess white men are just more literal

Getting on one knee for a woman or anything else is not manly, it's submissive, whimpish, meekly and definetely feminine. Any man who falls on his knees for a woman, will never be able to get up and restore his ego and manliness.

Come on girls, we all know its a fantasy, all this wedding proposal nonsense. You'll be lucky if the somali guy consults you before going to your pops.

To be honest... from the character you build here, I would imagine your likely husband will ask for your hand while performing his favorite Kama Sutra position on you. He would probably consider it useless to do it anyway after he thinks it over after a min or so later...Basra- wrote:nai pukeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee![]()

a good proposal would be ... We are out walking in a beautiful summer day . he says do u wanna marry me .. and I would ofcourse yes

and it has to be bewteen the months maay, juun, juulaayo
but then again .. its only dream scenario.. there are no men worth marrying around here
in real life .. i would go to somalia for husband hunting . promising some random man a ticket to Yurub

grandpakhalif U R A LIAR!
Proposing on one knee simply honors the woman-- the man is in a begging position, putting the ball on the womans field. She may or may not accept his begging.
It origins are no doubt synonymous with cinderala--prince charming myth. The handsome rich prince who is humbled by the destute poor beauty cinderella. It could also be dated back to angelican culture-- the english who always kneel in front of the royal to be knighted. Its a gesture of respect or submission as Sir lug stated. One submits to the bewitching charms of the woman or the royal.
Sir Lug---why do u act tuff? U know u will kneel both knees when given the chance to behold a beauty!

Re: How would you like to be proposed to?
Honestly,
My ideal proposal and the propsal I would
most, is for him to come to my father, and that my father says, 'Gabartay waa kugu ducayee,' and I would like it, if my father knows his family, somehow! This is like the inital meeting though. I think it is every girls dream that her father aa dhibeey, even though the Nikkah etc can be done by another male, acting on your fathers permission.
So, it is kinda of official. As for me, well he'll somehow know I'll say yes and thats why his coming to my father.
BlackVelvet,
Xaagey ka baxaday?
For a moment I thought someone was pretending to be you.

Its just for a moment Sir L...not a lifetime endavour of kneeling.
Plus, you know a man gives to a womans demands eventually on one knee or none.

That's because you're male. If you were a girl, you would blush, flick your hair and accept or refuse of course.Keyse_0208 wrote:its a white thing bro, walahi if i ever see qof somali ah oo waxaa sameynaya i wouldnt know what i would doSir-Luggoyo wrote:Getting on one knee for a woman or anything else is not manly, it's submissive, whimpish, meekly and definetely feminine.
