The loss to Somalia in Saturday’s Africa Junior under-17 championships was the lowest point our football standards have ever gone.
For how can a country that boasts of peace and stability and thousands of talented youth go down to an unstable, war-ravaged country?
Watching Somalia play the match at Oserian Stadium, it was evident that despite their domestic problems, the team was more organised and had every intention to get the victory.
The Kenyan side was on the other hand, scrappy to say the least, and considering reports of lack of training venue that dogged the team during the week, one is not surprised that they got what they deserved.
The blame falls squarely on Football Kenya Limited’s (FKL) feet once again, for gambling with national duty and bringing shame to the country.
In their characteristic nature, the company once again entered a team in an international event just for the sake of it and had no intention of giving the squad good preparations.
It is obvious that FKL officials will not be moved to resign for bringing national shame to this country. It is now high time the Government stepped in and took action against inept systems even at the expense of a Fifa ban on the country.
We should also withdraw from all the remaining international competitions starting with the under-20 Africa Junior championships until a competent body is found to run local football.
Now is the time to take action and restore our country’s pride. Is the Sports Minister listening?

The clip notes how the Somali team was held at Jome Kenyata Airport for five hours. People who know nothing about Kenya might get pissed off and start hating Kenyans but it really comes to Kenyan culture of feeding off from Somalis who fall onto their radars.
How much did the Samali team pay to land in?
It is also possible that Kenyans are showing some inferiority complex by switching the issue from football to nationalism. Okey, Somalia is poor and unstable at the moment but what is that have to do with Kenya losing 3-1. Aren't the best footballers usually from poor unstable neighborhoods?
Let's beat the Kenyans in their turf again. Where to watch: live streaming.

Nolol,
Kenyans always take defeat badly especially when they expect to win. This was just the icing on the cake.

APA-Mogadishu-(Somalia) The Somali National Under-17 football squad has qualified for the second round of the African Under-17 championships qualifying rounds, after a hotly contested match between the Kenyan-Somali teams which ended in 0-0 draw on Friday afternoon.
Kenya needed a 2-0 win to eliminate Somalia which humiliated Kenya 3-1 in the first leg of the competition which took place in Djibouti on April 9 and with Saturday’s draw, Somalia has qualified for the second round of the CAF youth championships.
The match was due to take place at the Kasarani stadium in Nairobi, but was later transferred to the Oserian stadium in Naivasha due to some undisclosed reasons.
The head of the Somali delegation Amir Abdi Hassan who talked to reporters after the match said that they were based at a hotel which is very far from the stadium and they had to travel over 90 kilometres to the stadium before the game kicked off on Saturday.
“Praise be to Allah this is a tangible success for us, because we have eliminated them from the competition, although we were playing minus one,” the head of the Somali delegation said.
“In the 40th minute of the first half of the game Mohamed Hashi Siyad was given a red card but that did not discourage my boys, they redoubled their efforts and as a result, the game ended in a draw,” he added.
Mr. Amir said that the weather was very cold, but the Somali youngsters who were committed to qualifying for the second round made every possibility to hold high their flag and the name of Somalia.
In the next round, the Somali Under-17 will face Egypt, a leading football power in the African continent on August 27 this year. The 2011 CAF Under-17 finals will take place in Rwanda next year.

They exiled the boys to Zarengetti, made them travel 90 minutes to the game, like Barca travelling to Milan, made them play in the cold, but the boys still won. Cheaters.

I wish they had an easier draw than Egypt.
