Uganda willing to send 2,000 more troops to Somalia
(AFP) – 9 hours ago
KAMPALA — Uganda can provide 2,000 more troops needed to bring the African Union force in Somalia to its full strength if no other nation volunteers, the army's spokesman told AFP Thursday.
"We are capable of providing the required force if other countries fail to do so," Ugandan army spokesman Felix Kulayigye said. "I should say, however, that I think it is appropriate that other countries contribute."
Somalia's Al-Qaeda-inspired Shebab movement has claimed responsibility for bomb attacks on a bar and restaurant in the Ugandan capital Kampala on Sunday in which at least 73 people were killed.
The rebel group said the bombings were in retaliation for the presence of Ugandan troops in the African Union's military mission in Mogadishu.

Re: Uganda troops
When Uganda troops start killing Somalis to get revenge. We will all grab a picket sign and protest downtown. For example when Ethiopian troops were killing us a few years ago. We all became very angry. Why haven't we cared about all the Somalis who died since Ethiopia left?
But why don't we get angry when Somalis kill other Somalis?

Re: Uganda troops
Fuck Uganda troops but it wasnt right for Shabaab to kill innocent civilians in Uganda, if they had issues with Amismom then they should have dealt with them.

Re: Uganda troops
Even more reason to reject Ugandan request to increase their forces on somali soil. Their intention is tainted and they are seeking revenge on the somali population for what the Al-shabab are dumb enough to accept responsibility for.
Remove Al-shabab by force and you will welcome back rape, murder and beastiality. TFG has failed they do not have the ability to replace Al-shabab. So who is taking Al-shabab's place?

Cirwaaq,
What about the Afghan, Pakistani, Arab, Kenyan Al Qaeda fanatics who pour into SOmalia ? Is Shabab going to stop them from coming ?
So why should the Somali Government reject foreign troops to help it out ?

Re: Uganda troops
I supported TFG and hated Al-shabab unconditionally. TFG has failed in more then one faculty. They had the uper hand and failed to secure even one negotiation with Al-shabab.
I can continue to support TFG and cheer for the fall of Al-shabab.
but then what?
TFG's position is solidified and they no longer have to negotiate with ASWJ. Eureka we have:
- a new dictatorship in africa?
- return to warlordism?
You really believe removing Al-shabab will make a better TFG?
Al-shabab is feared TFg is not!

P.s
The Warlords that makeup the bulk of the TFG are only united as a result of Al-shabab. Watch their house of cards begin to fall apart without the threat of Al-shabab!

The problem with you abdiwahab (sijui boy) is you never experienced war even for a single day in your half a century life, otherwise you wouldn't be advocating for more war to this day.AbdiWahab252 wrote:Cirwaaq,

TFG or Al-Shabaab? I don't support either of them. I support the future of Somali people not petty, scheming greedy wannabe dictators. I don't think TFG or Al-Shabaab care about Somalia so I don't support either of them. I can't support a group just because they are the lesser of two evils. Evil is still evil. Haven't we had enough Somali men, women, and children murdered for petty ambition?

There were Somalis of Pashtun descent who lived in Somalia. I saw them in Marka and I saw them in Muqdishu. As a matter fact, several families who told me their parents originated from Iran. I have even seen a Somali with a Baluch descent. Descedents of all of the Ethnic group in the South and Central Asia were among the Somali population. Believe it or not, the Somalis who were the inhabitants of Merca showed us some Somalis whom they told us that they were jews. There was this guy who owned a restaurant in Downtown Merca next to the Movie Theater and they told us he is a jew. So, don't be surprsised if you see Somalis with ligther skins but who can speak Somali language in Hamari accent.

Re: Uganda troops
dude i grew up in abudhabi i know a pushtoon when i see one.
They were not somali or mixed, they were pure pushtoons from afghanistan/pakistan..
and they were heading to xamar, and they seemed very familiar with it....
and they were wearing salwar khamis and hanging out with other afghans who were aparently escorting them to the airport and only those 2 were getting on the plane...
it makes me wonder what the hell is going on down south, what will we discover

Re: Uganda troops
We have a snake like Al-shabab that has already bitten the somali people. The solution to Al-shabab is not soley in the death of the snake. We need this snake alife to extract it's venom to produce anti-venom. Unless we are happy to accept the death of everyone of their bitten victims.
Ugandians will die in the process, they will retaliate against populated areas. More of the population will join with Al-shabab, ugandiands will have to kill more somalis to secure a foothold for TFG.
I am not convinced TFG is worth killing a single somali person be it a khawarij or an atheist. Any somali life is worth more then the coalition of thiefs assembled as the government of the somali people. It would rather see sincere dialogue with all groups prior to military action. In my view military action is a loose loose situation.
TFG is incapable of self criticism or self regulation and without Al-shabab they have no reason to negotiate with ASWJ. Will too have to then be removed by force? What if other militant groups emerge?
This feels like throwing petrol on a forest fire!!!
