Why doesn't Puntland buy Tanks?

Why doesn't Puntland buy Tanks?

Puntland has a 100 million dollar budget can could easily obtain these weapons.

A T-90A of the Russian Army would cost 2.3 millon dollars while T-72 would cost between 1 to 2 million dollars.

There is an arms embargo on somalia so no country would sell. However, with recent development in puntland things might change with the al-shaytan and the pirates problem. Or we could holla at north korea. Dearleader would sell anything for $$$

If those Kenyans were able to supply South Sudan with tanks. I think Arab donors of Puntland should be able to buy Tanks for Puntland load it off them without any problem. With a vast coastline, it would be quite an easy operation.

Oh ,I know it doesn't mean they will end up in jail, Ahmed Diiriye's voicebox . :)

"Trial" means being molested and dragged naked through the streets of Xamar AFTER you're killed. Why waste swiss- cheese looking buildings and turn them into jails :?

Tanks use too much gas and that is the reason why they are not suitable in the rural fighting unless of they canb be supported with air power and other massive artillery.

threads wear out and maintanance is a btch with tanks, even old soviet rust buckets need tender care..

but they are very usefull, if you know how to use them..
they should be used as a fist to smash straight into opposing forces, since they can withstand nearly everything that techniclas can throw at them they would be deadly..

if you have soldiers riding on top of the tanks in desant, this also helps becuase they can keep an eye out for RPG's which are the only thing that can ruin your day
other than another tank..

in place of a tank you can get the same value out of several low budget yet advanced vechicles..

my favourite the south african Ratel..

This one is battle tested in the Angola wars, and even did something it was not designed for, takeing out a T-55...

The auto canon or the 60 mm mortar can deal with any vehicle that comes its way, and is excellent against personel..

plus its easy to maintain, spare parts are easily available, it shares nearly 50% of the parts of Unimog mercedes truck..

and the clincher is the price..
and unbellievable $250,000 base price per unit..
