Which is worse? They'll both end up in the fire so does it really matter?
In my opinion Seculars/liberals/"progressive muslims" are even worse since they want to change Allah's diin in order to please the West, indeed the hypocrites will have 1 of the worst punishment May Allah protect us from that.
Which is worse?

I would say denying His existance is a huge fabrication against him. Ergo, athiesm is a form of shirk.
That is, unless you would argue that an atheist worships himself/science/rationality/philosophy etc.

U can argue about the trinity, but that's a whole nother argument. Majority of Christians will say they believe in one god. In the Quran Jews and Christians are referred to as Ahlul Kitaab, not Mushrikiin.Alphanumeric wrote:

Re: Which is worse?
shirib I said tht on slife once. That Christians weren't disbelievers but ahlul kitaab and I got so much 'dawah' in the 'luuq' from 'religious brothers' smh
but then again the same thing happened one day when I said I wouldn't do the nasty with my husband cuz I've had my virginity longer than he's been in my life so I owe it my loyalty

Re: Which is worse?
I believe you're mistaken. Shirk is an act, a mushrik is the one who performs it. They reject Islam, say they believe in One God, but pray to others or worse yet, those who they claim are His children. This is basic stuff bro.Shirib wrote:U can argue about the trinity, but that's a whole nother argument. Majority of Christians will say they believe in one god. As far as I know, atheism is shirk. It's like saying which is worse, getting murdered or getting killed by a drunk driver.
If the person was originally a Muslim and turned atheist, then they committed shirk which the biggest sin ever...and according to some the only unforgivable sin.

Nanees,
That's not what i was getting act. Christians are disbelievers.
Alpha,
maybe my arabic is off. Mushrikiin, are polytheists/idolaters? or anyone who commits shirk. If the latter, what is the difference between a mushrik and a kaffir?

Those are one and the same. Shirk is to associate partners with Allah, to claim He has children, parents, spouse, etc.Shirib wrote:Nanees,

Kufr, is the rejection or hiding of the truth. Similar to the "kaafir" in reference to a farmer, who hides seeds for fruit under the soil. Kufaar (kaafir, pl) reject what Islam has come with. They may not always be mushrikeen, since they may not worship anything at all, unless it's argued they worship themselves/life/science/money &c.
You have to understand that the Mushrikeen of Makkah also claimed to believe in Allah, in one god. They claimed that their idols were only a means of achieving nearness to Allah, regardless if their idols were complete fabrications or references to ancestors. Some even worshiped jinn, trees, rocks, etc. I make no* distinction between them and the those from the people of Musa who worshiped the golden calf. Or those who claimed Isa was the son of Allah. But that's just me.
