China switches allies for oil export base kismayo

Postby grandpakhalif » Sat Jan 07, 2012 5:25 pm

China has shifted its support from the Kenyan-backed "Azanian Liberation Force" to the more savvy and experienced Ethiopian-backed TFG Forces concentrated in Gedo. It's main leader former Colonel "Barre Hiiraale" commands the force with an impressive 3,500 militia men. Prior to this shift, China supported the Kenyan backed Ogaden-clan and its leader, the former Somali defence minister, a French-educated anthropologist, Mohamed Abdi Mohamed, seemed a good choice. In April he formed the Azania group, made up of Somali soldiers belonging to the Ogaden clan and trained by Nairobi at Isiolo in Kenya.

But plans for Azania have been cut down. Equipped by Nairobi with arms supplied by China, as revealed by WikiLeaks cables, Azania's 3,000-strong force did not live up to expectations in the field.
Ethiopia also objected to an Ogadeni principality being established on its doorstep: Addis Ababa is already combating a rebellion led by the Ogaden National Liberation Front, which finds recruits among this clan. This coupled with China's ever increasing aid to Ethiopia and the proposed 'Berbera-Addis' pipeline would increase China's chances of profiteering from oil both in the Eastern Ethiopia and Kismayo. Rumours are swirling that China plans to build an Oil export Base in Kismayo in order to set up offshore oil rigs.

Marehan clan soon to be rich:

Once ONLF is done with the ethiopian enemy they'll raid deep into Somalia and take control of Kismaayo, 3500 militiamen won't stand a chance against the well seasoned ONLF veterans. Kismaayo shall be ours again my son.

ONLF runs into jigjiga the capital of Ogaden whenever they feel like it, Ethiopians soldiers are so shooked that they withdrew and created a dabodhaliif miliatia (similar to ASWJ). That militia ignores ONLF when they see them cause they know they'll get destroyed. On the other hand your militia literally relies on Ethiopia and wouldn't survive without it.

When it comes to Somali Galbeed, i think that the rest of the somali's must always follow the lead of the majority clan.
Right now the Ogadens want to fight, so the other smaller somali clans must help them and shoulder the pain.
With Unity the ethiopians can never break us in that region

galia you know they don't want to even consider the presence of other clans in western somalia. Why are no hawiye, marehan or isaak fighting for ONLF? Because they know its one clan dominated tribalistic goal driven entity.

We want it all saxiib, you best wish that Ethiopia stays strong cause if they don't anything Kismaayo shall be ours. As our fellow daroods we will let you leave in the city peacefully but you must give your allegiance to the Somali Sultanate of Ogadenia.
