Somalis are tiny minority on somalinet

While doing some basic house keeping on the site, I came across some funny stats:

Between Feb 7 and March 8

Most people who come from search engines are looking for things that are not related to Somalis. For instance, google alone sent over 90K visitors looking for information regarding "fat people" to snet's directory and forum sections. Most search keywords have nothing to do with Somali/somalia/somaliland.

Most popular somali related searches:
1- Waris Dirie
2- Somalia Oil
3- Somali girls
4- Somalia Flag
5- Somali Models
6- Iman
7- Somali Chicks
8- Somaliland Flag
9- Mogadishu
9- Somali Women
10 - Hargeisa

3- Directory and Chat sections are visited more than the forums.

edit: The stats change so maybe nest month Weris is not going to be on top. Who is Amaal Nuux? Both Somaliland and Puntland are also in the top 15 somalia related searches.

Interesting theory, what about the members. Has their been a drift of foreigners posing as Somali members ?

I noticed even on Twitter that Somalinet forum threads are mentioned quite a bit. For instance: Someone whose Twitter page that is dedicated to weightloss would have a Somalinet thread about weightloss posted on their Twitter page. And I doubt these people are posting it on their own Twitter page because they are not Somali and they seem to be automatic robo-posts.

Example: Dark Girls @DarkGirlsMovie on Twitter posted "SomaliNet Forums • View topic - Dark skinned girls http://ow.ly/1hYtb1" on their Twitter Page.

You should think of putting up some ads on your site. You will be making some extra pocket money due to Somalinet's success and popularity :up:

ppl from search engines usually read one page. Some look around for a few minutes b4 bouncing back.

The stats we use can't differentiate between somali and non-somali posters.

fighter, it has ads but not on the forums. The forums have it too but disabled at this time.
