Is this true?

 looks like you asked the exact same question in August 2011.

To answer your question, he did have a peace treaty with Ethiopia in 1988 and resumed diplomatic relations with the country shortly after so yes... he did. He really didn't have a choice. The military was focused on the SNM in the north at that year. He didn't have time to worry about the Ogaden region.

Siyaad Barre set us up. If he supported the WSLF via proxy, the rebels would've defeated the weak Ethiopian military. The Soviets and it's 20 other allied nations wouldn't have a platform to intervene. Siyaad Barre's move to attack Ethiopia gave an excuse to the Soviets to intervene, killing any hope to defeat Ethiopia.

Thank you Siyaad Barre for f-king up all Somalis.

I repeated my question because nobody answered my question in 2011.

I do not understand you.

Did Siad Barre resign Ogaden in 1988?

Yes or No.

the SNM were launching operations from dire dawa, siad wanted to toughen ties between both nations, it was the best for their interest , because ethiopia wanted barre to stop supporting and supplying the wslf, and barre wanted the same thing for the snm, when the deal was done, SNM were forced out of their base in dire dawa, and into mainland waqooyi galbeed, and ethiopia had control over the ogaden.

Whoa, rude. I already answered your question and explained the context surrounding it.

The answer is YES.

Your cousins in the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias were nothing but cannon fodder for the Soviets

AbuukarSubeer

barre to stop supporting and supplying the wslf

WSLF was very weak in 1988,WSLF was not a serious military threat to Mengistu after 1986.
