Two star athletes, who were excellent students, have their lives ruined forever, for one night of mistakes. Yes they raped a girl, but they were drunk, at a party, and underage. So common in young adolescent lives in America, that it is a norm. Yes they had sex with young girl, and yes they regret it, but now they have pay for it for the rest of their lives, as registered sex offenders, their athletic and academic hopes ruined. Is this really fair, and who really is the victim?

They raped someone. What is unfair is their expected light sentencing (1 year and 2 years) with credit given for time already served.

The only injustice that occurred was this liberal state treating the rapist criminals as the victims as liberals love to do. These rapists were basically rewarded. They will probably spend a few weeks in prison due to time already served and be released on parole due to good behavior or prison overcrowding.

You unwillingly highlighted the biggest problem to just locking up people for every little thing done. The jails are overcrowded, and the last thing we should be doing is trying to fill them with innocent teens. These kids, along with the girl, are the real victims to the crimes of this society, in which it has, onslaught after onslaught, subjected them too. That being most profoundly, the radical sexualization of the youth, and worship of drugs prominently alcohol, through the media, which has permeated the conscious of this young and fragile generation. It is America that should go on trial, and not these kids.

CNN did a great justice in this piece, in showing who the real victims were, and told their side of the story.
