I used to have multicultural friends growing up until after high school. I have only Somali friends now. Even the Arabs left lol... well except for one but he's more Somali than Arab (speaks more Somali than me) so he doesn't count as a non Somali

I use to have Philippino, Korean, Arab, Ukrainian, Ethiopian, white friends, but now they are all Somalis.

Same. Hardly knew Somalis in high school (but you already knew that ) but once I got into uni I still have 6-7 ajnabi friends though.

have you noticed that as you get older you have less friends, only the close friends remain.
right now its somali, omani,pakistani/canadian and an half iraqi half irishman that is a UK citizen married to an italian.
just 4 close friends.

before when i was single and more social, i had more acquaintances than i could count, and allot more friends.
Ukrainian, Kazakhs, Uzbeks, chechens, Iranians, the usual Pakistani and Indians, British, US,Canadians, South africans,
Somalis, Eritreans, yemenis, French cadaan, French arab, algerians, 1 morrocan 1 panamanian and a nigerian.

and thats just in dubai between 2003 and 2009.

In australia i used to keep my friends segregated and they did not mix till later,
I had the Mosque crew, that i went o muxadharas and islamic conferences with and the mosque.
Then i had the non muslims which were mostly Far East /south east asian.
Me and Mat the Aussie and Andy the Mauritian were usually the only no indo yare in a crowd of indo yare.
and lastly it was my eritrean friend and his isreali girlfriend they joined the indo yare crew as well...

but the funniest moment was when the isreali chick met my muxadhara friends.
what a laugh, she spoke perfect arabic, and could put on both the lebanese and the egyptian accent,. and all the arabs had no clue
and were later scandalized when she admitted she was isreali, she wasnt even mizrahi but a polish jew.

I know a few somalis but, I cannot call them "friends". Most of my friends are Swedes. When I went to university, I was the only Somali in the university.

As they say blood is thicker than water. I still got few non Somali friends but they r getting less and less.

@ Gurey: absolutely true what you said. Esp about the variety of friends if people went had an international education.

I had the predictable variety (even 1 Mongolian friend - I thought that was an ancient civilisation Genghis Khan style!). I have cut off ties with most of my school & college friends (dad khair kula rabin, ilaahay ha soo hadeeyo). Kept maybe 2-3 friends from the 1st uni, 1 from the next. All 3 uni friends are Somali except for another close Moroccan friend. Alxamdulillah that's the way to go. People you share lots of common interests with and that are really NOT xaasid (which is harder to find with girls/ladies).

Most my x girlfriends are Somalis too.

Unless you live in Alaska there is noway you can escape this, without deliberately avoiding Somalis, which I don't.

i used to have arab(yemeni, palestinian, egyptian and khaliji) asian, african friends.

but right now almost all my friends are somali
