Who else though "dagaalka sokeeye" meant the close (recent) war?

Post by BlackVelvet »

I am sure I'm not the only one

Come on out and learn something new today

It means civil war  So Dagaalka sokeye ee Mareykanka is the American civil war, which as you know, wasn't so recent

Still don't understand why they use the word sokeeye though :lupe:

My understanding of that term sokeeye doesn't necessarily mean recently but rather between people of same clan.

like the 91 in somaliland.

I doubt the kalshaale and khatumo will be called sokeeye.

but I could be wrong

The term is reer waqooyi and never heard of southerners use it.

they always refer to their dagaal sokeeye as the 4 months war. Dagaalki afarta bilood.

Well logic dictates that if Shisheeye means foreigner, Sokeeye means fellow countryman.

 No all dagaal that took place after 91 are generally called dagaaladii sokeeye, and since there were many, each has it is own name, like dagaalki 4ta bilood, then Xadka iyo xawaaraha etc etc.

Sokeeye is a standard Somali word used in pretty much all Somali regions. Not exclusive to Waqooyi. :|

Look at all these old people killing my thread, this was supposed to be an educational thread for the dhaqancelis where I am the wise, learned one :sadbron:

I know shisheeye, but I though sokeeye was a distance thing which now when I think about it makes sense that it would mean close kin :ohhh:
