Why is the Dollar gone so expensive

Postby Togdeer » Sun Mar 22, 2015 3:53 pm

Dollar price has gone though the roof. Last week I was sending money back home using Dahabshiil and they were charging £72.08 per $100.
I've never seen the dollar like this before.

Puond is gone up.
Euro is gone down.
But the Doller has gone through the roof. Its almost as high as the Euro

Oil is tanking. All those USD derivatives need to be paid back increasing demand for dollars. The dollar has an inverse relationship with the price of crude oil. Also the ECB and BOJ (2nd/3rd most important central bank) launched QE recently while the fed ended QE in October.

It can go even much lower.

Aussie dollar was only worth 0.48 USD back in 2001.

EUR = 0.85 USD in 2001

GBP = 1.36 USD in 2001

I don't understand when it comes to pound vs dollar.
The pound is also doing very well, Briton has the fastest growing economy in Europe.
The London stock exchange has reached its record level since 1999.
Unemployment is at its lowest level since record began.
Lowest number of people claiming welfare benefits...

I don't know what it is,
its like the dollar is on steroids.
