They are also about half the population in Middle Jubba and Gedo. They are found in large numbers in Banadir. Their IDPs alone are 300,000 in Xamar. However, they are very peaceful and never brag nor fight.

They're originally blood related but the alliance was expanded to accommodate new comers to reflect Deegaan. Just like Hawiye adopted Xawaadle and Gaaljecel, both of which are not originally Hawiye. I believe all Somali clans absorbs external members (sheegad) who are later assimilated into the original clan.

Rahanweyn aka Digil iyo Mirifle are Maay dialect speakers. Not exclusively Many jareer speak Af Maay too and sometimes claim Digil clans, their former masters. I don't know if it's true that Mad mullah declared them gaalo

you do realise there is lots of SM clans in the south? there is even one absorbed into DM called macalinweyne, because they where religious people who came to teach, rings a bell doesnt it (Hargeisa, Madar)
