Guys, no one is saying Saudi Arabia is going to become like Cuba.

After all Russia did the same thing as Saudi and also invaded and annexed Crimea and the world still has relations with them. You also see how hard the Americans want to talk to North Korea and the rest of the world including the American Democrats have already embraced a treaty with Iran.

The world is moving towards dialogue, and Saudi Arabia will be no different especially since it is an ally of the US.

However, the issue at stake is the credibility of the US and the West and the International norms set since WWII.

The US can't sanction Russia for killing a journalist and naming a world wide human rights law in his name (Magnitsky Act) and then turn a blind eye to Saudi for doing the same just because they are an ally.

Even while Trump signaled he would not sign the Russia sanctions, Congress took it out of his hands and adoped it on a Veto proof vote---meaning whether Trump signed or not, the sanctions would pass.

Similarly it's not Trump I am looking at for the response to Saudi Arabia. It is Congress. Watch Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio saying Congress will act 100% with or without Trump. As soon as Congress said that, France, Germany, and the UK put out their statement warning of repercussions also. Only then did Trump break his silence and said "there will be hell to pay if Saudi killed him."

Saudi Arabia does not need to be dealt with like North Korea for her entire standing and prestige in the world to be affected. What has happened has already destroyed what ever credibility it bought with money all these decades.

Saudi Arabia is not stupid. Now it is being hinted that Saudi Arabia will admit that Khashoggi died under Saudi hands, but by "rogue elements" who did not have permission. Let's see if the world accepts that excuse once the Turks conclude their investigation.

My personal theory is Khashoggi wasn't supposed to die, but kidnapped and brought back to Saudi under the orders of MBS. Somehow something went wrong and they had to cut up and dispose of his body.
