I agree with the professor here, you can’t defeat al shabab with tribal miltias long term. Who are these tribal militias accountable to? What happens if they commit atrocities based on clan? Reviving the failed usc will not defeat al shabab

The professor also suggests having the PM and cabinet to be replaced. The current PM is useles yes man, and the cabinet are not doing their jobs. Im sure even HSM knows his government is a disaster.

This man is impossible. I actually want to see him critique himself. Or even identify 1 single anything that is a solution or a potential option/choice.

I cannot see myself finding him credible in anything including even criticism of HSM govt whom I oppose on on significant issues.

Let’s stop attacking the messenger here. If anything, professor Samatar has been consistent in his criticisms of all Somali governments.

Also, the new CBB who are mostly abgal seems to be attacking anyone who criticize this governments approach to fighting shabab. Look at all their mindless supporters on social media trying to shut down any debate about hsm failures.

This is how HSM is able to continue his corruption by attacking opponents and shutting down debate.

There is a reason why al shabab is in the south and specifically HAG lands.

Those lands from 1992 to 2006 had mooriyaan rule. A literal mad max society where anyone with a gun could kill, rape and loot anything he wanted without consequences.

Al shabaab are brutal but they have monopolised violence which you may think is a bad thing but compared the clan militias who fought constantly and killed on a much more frequent basis. One entity with monopoly on violence is better then 20 militias each vying for s piece of the pie.

What was needed was al shabaab to be replaced by the government. But the south is going backwards al shabab is being replaced by the same clan militias that caused havoc from 1992 to 2006.
