Take chilli's advice. San dheer is giving you the sijui perspective of how things are in Nairobi which is too rosey for the reality there. I don't understand, why would anyone avoid the somali inhabited places? Even if you want to avoid the somalis in Nairobi, it is impossible because somalis live in everywhere in Nairobi these days. From South C to Islii to even the upper class suburbs, you will find large numbers of somalis.
My advice to you, in addition to chillis', is avoid the police as much as you can; these are fukkin thieves in uniform. They will try to hustle you as much as they can. And bring me back a nice authentic soccer jersey, they only cost $5 there.
