Gurey
I knew of Googoosh for a very long time.
The likes of these artists say something about these cultures: Old, ancient, melancholic, comatose, dull, boring.
Of course an argument can be made to say that in comparison to western cultures `throw away' music, the continuation shows dignity and resilience and respect.
I believe the former.
But I believe the Somali `balance' is far better. Magool, Baxsan, Gududo Carwo, Sugulle, Kariye, Mumin(2), Said Saalax, Maryam Mursal. We still love them. But we also move on and listen to Zeynab Dhagax(dumbest name I ever heard) and caqaarta(even dumber) and Fadumo Qassim(sickeningly imitatious of bollywood) and Khadra Dahhir (disurbingly, hauntingly good).
Asians do not move on in pop Music. I mean for heaven's sake they still listen to Um Kulthum and Googoosh. what does that say about them?
