We (NFD Somalis) have probably the worst accent going, we dont have accent, we speak appalling Somali I guess, nonetheless, it seems most Somalis understand what we mean/or what we want, or maybe they're hiding their indignation and feeling sorry for us Rolling Eyes Laughing .

I still love my accent and would not change it to appease some pedantic reer-Somali Smile

I also like Xaamari accent.

MaD dog,

Are you advertising Habar Gidir for us? Sacad , Saruur, Ceyr , Habar Gidir alon seems to have 3 different accent, while you labeled the entire Somali Galbeed accent on one single tribe... its shows how ignorant of the Somali accent and geography.

Somali Galbeed accent? what on earth is that, are you telling folks from Jigjiga speak any differently from folks in Hargaysa just less then 100km east. At same time you assuming folks from Ceerigaabo the same Isaaq as those of Hargaysa have the same accent despite the fact that over 400km seperates them?

Do you think a Ciise from Lafo Ciise section of Diridhaba shares the same accent with a Gaadsan Dir from Nus Dariiq, or a Sheekhaal from Dhagaxbuur speaks any differently from a Ciidagale from Awaare less then 40km west of him..

Do you think an Ogaadeen from Dhagaxbuur or Dhagax Madow speapks with the same accent of that of Qoraxay or Godey?

who on earth , can tell the subtle differences of voice pitch of a Xawaadle from that of Habar Gidir or Murusade,?

And what exactly qualifies as an accent? Raxanweyn do not have an accent infact 70% of their language isn't even somali.

What is an accent? yiri/tiri or Yidhi/Tidhi or Dhahay/Dhahday? these minor differences?

Or simply a Majeerteen saying Boowe Baayo from Garoowe consitute an entire accent catageory and diffrentiates him from his Galaakacyo cousin who lacks these 2 simple words...

Non sense....................

What I meant is, in England, the standard English used by the major broadcasters in the main is Thames Estuary. A south England 'accent'.

but anyway thanks

x-playa sorry but af waqooyi is af waqooyi, even the isaaq in somali galbeed sound like waqooyi while the ogaadeen of galbeedka have their own distinct accent.

i think there is more difference in the pitch of habar gider kali then in waqooyi Laughing

Mad Dog,

i can tell you this that 99% of Somalis would tell you that all Hawiye sound the same.. and you out of tribal advertisement want us to believe the 4 tiny sections of the Habar Gidiir who reside in Mudug and parts of Galguduud have various accents?

You are dead wrong my freind, a Darood from waqooyi like the Warsangali and Dhulbahnate has a different accent then a western Somaliland Waqooyi, such as a Habar Awal or Ciise or Gedebursi. Reason being Laas Caanood lies in less then 100km from Garoowe, and the Warsangali/Dishiihle and Waqooyi Bari Majeerteen sound the same and alot closer then any Isaaq's accent. in fact Laas Caanood lies equi-distance between Galaakacyo and Burco... contarary to the common falllacy.

What you are trying to do is to impose artificial borders made recently on a 1000 years old accent.

90% of Somali Galbeed north of the Shabeele from Qabri Dhahar all the way to Diridhaba and Jigjiga , will sound reer Waqooyi to most Hawiye. 90% of Somali Galbeed south of the Shabeele river will sound reer Xamar to most of Isaaq.

You as a Hawiye can't tell the differenc in accent north of the Shabeele river all the way to Harar, they all will sound to you as a semi-Qaldaan. Accent is not affected by artificial borders, these borders and separtions are not Berlin walls. Majority of Absame (Bartire, Abskuul, Ogaadeens) have a Waqooyi accent. Gurgure, Gaadsan, Akiishe, Madigan, Sheekhaal, Majeerteens (reer Maxamuud, Biciidyahan) in North of the Shabeele river in Somali Galbeed sound as most reer Waqooyi sound to souhterners.

What iam saying , accent should be grouped using geography not tribal and artificial borders.. There are no Somaliland accent, or Somali Galbed accent or Somalia accent, there is no suh a thing as Hawiye , Daarood or Isaaq accent..

^u know i am not hawiye even from earlier times u talked bout Siyaad barre u know what I am Smile

wat u said about geography is somewhat workable but i stand that accent has to do with qabiil.

the marehan of Cabudwaq neither sound like their hawiye neighbors nor their majerten/lelkase neighbers. they are classifed as "rer mudug" even though they are disctinct from the rer mudug speech of the majerten/habar gidier neighbors.

this is a 5 minute interview of a nabadoon from Cabudwaq n tell me where u would categorize him

I think Elaay speaking xalimos are sexy...it kinda reminds you of the begging act. Smile

Second thing would be a "huuno" pronounced by a qaldaan xalimo. Smile
