What is the Sayyid to you?
I was wondering what you think of him, clan a side. The sayyid is one of the most contraversial individuals in Somali history. He is regarded as a hero to some, while others regard him as a bandit.

Yes he was, it looks like as if the Sayyid took on a similar road as the Jihad of Uthman den fadio.
But i wonder, if the Sayyid was forced into rebellion by a genuine fear that Christian colonization was undermining the integrity of his nationÂ’s religion? And that may explain why he had it out with the Qaadiriya Wadaads in Barbara, who were happy with the economic success the British had stablished. It appears that the SayyidÂ’s journey to Mecca had exposed him Pan-Islamic leaders and ideas. Was the SayyidÂ’s opposition to Euro-Christian rule an element of Pan-Islamism?
I find the history of the Sayyid quite interesting, because it may also explain the current situation with the UIC.

He was a great Somali hero. If it wasnt for him we would be all gaalo like Galol. His grandfather was one of the few Isaaqs who were already converted in the Christian missions.

Markii uu gumaysigu soo galay arlada soomaalida waxa la yimi oo weheliyey kooxo horseed u ahaa waxbarasho ka soo jeedda oo laga soo dheegtey Diinta Kiristaanka. Waxa 1891 dugsiyo noocaas ah oo Baaderi (wadaad masiixi ah) madax u yahay laga furay magaalada Berbera iyo Bulla-xaar. 1905-tiina waxa laga furay magaalada Saylac. Waxa dugsiyadaas ugu caansanaa Dhaymoole oo ahaa duleedka Berbera. Dadkii soomaalidu waxa ay ka hor yimaaddeen furitaanka dugsiyadaas. Waxa soomaalidu la diiddanayd ubadkooda in la baro diin aan ahayn diintooda Islaamka, waxana soo baxay dareen muujinaya in qasdiga ka dambeeya iskuulladaasi uu yahay mid la xidhiidha fidinta Diinta Kiristaanka. Sidaas darteed way xidhmeen muddo ka dib dugsiyadaasi. Iskuulladaas Baaderiga raggii ugu horreyey ee waxbarashada ka bilaabay waxa ka mid ahaa Alle ha u naxariistee Xaaji Faarax Oomaar, Xuseen Kaatoli, Ciise Faranji, Axmed Cali (Maykal Maryama aabbihii), Fideer, Maxamuud Diiriye Suulaawe iyo qaar kale. Waxa markii dugsiyada Baaderigu xidhmeen nimankaas loo qaaday dhinaca magaalada Cadan oo looga sii ambaqaaday tacliintaas Baaderiga.

Cawar, do you agree that during the sayyids time there was an islamic revivalism, simpy because it was an era when Britian seized Egypt, the french begun tthe conquest of north Africa with Nigeria. Hence the Refromist movement in Africa was stablished. Similar trend seems to be happening, with this new UIC.

"elevated" is not a term I will use about Ina Abdille Xasan.
Cilmiile
Ina cabdille Xasan was an Ogaden Kombo. All Kombos were under foreign occupation at the time. His subclan the Ogadens were by common consent by far under the worst foreign gaal occupation of any Somali group. Other kombos like the MJs were certainly being `converted' in far larger numbers than the Isaqs.
So why didnt he go and liberate Kombos? What the fock was he doing in Isaqland?
