REST IN PEACE RADIO MOGADISHU 1958-2006

Post by AbdiWahab252 »

Another Somali Icon Bites the Dust.

Radio Mogadishu is NO MORE. It was seized by the ICU and now will be broadcasting under a new name, Voice of the Somali People.

NO MORE MUSIC will be broadcast.

I hope the Xaran Wadaads don't destroy the vast collection of Somali media collected since the 50s.

Why don't you ask your adeer Caato AKA "Monster Garage" to construct a portable 100MW darkened transmission van and secretly broadcast songs by cruising around Xamar and achieving a 75 mile transmission radius.

1947-48 (?) I remember my mother's father fixated on a crystal radio set as he listened to the baseball final series. Some of the announcers were pretty good: you did feel like you were there.

It would work for football.

But won't other stations, say in Puntland or Somaliland, pick up the slack?

Wahab

RIP Somaliness let alone Radio Mogadishu if these morons win. They will probably allow songs as long as it is Um Kulthum Roobow blaring out "inta feyn wal hubbi feyn". They will probably chant Allahuu Akbar thinking she is reciting Quran!

Galol< i hope they don't destroy the archives. They had a good selection of speeches especially those from the civilian government of the 1960s.

Wahab

Are you sure there was any archive left? I thought you guys destroyed it wholesale in the 90s. Was that a Kombo/Iidoor propoganda to portray you as mongol hordes? Or was there some truth in it?

Galol, a myth.

The archives and building remained untouched. It had a strong value as a communication tool.

There are massive archives on Somalia since the 50s. The most extensive are Siyaad's speeches.

Galol: The NSS archives are also intact.

The files on SLand would destroy a lot figures there. So many so called SNM mujahiids and AntiWalanweyne Slanders were informants.

They are acting more and more like a governmentÂ… This is an interesting step, I suppose the next step will be a tv channel. Maashaa'Allah Smile
