McCain, Obama in dead heat, poll says

John Wildermuth, Chronicle Staff Writer

Saturday, September 6, 2008

A new national poll puts Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain in a dead heat - 42 percent to 42 percent - as they begin their two-month sprint to the Nov. 4 presidential election.

You seriously have a problem if he does. I think you should prepare yourself for Obama's defeat, otherwise, you will hurt yourself emotionally.

Don't just say that unless you have polls, that poll and many others clearly shows Mccain is moving up and obama has slipped. What kind of lucky bounce are you expecting him to get? He has already many lucky bounces, running against an incumbent, unpopular party, yet McCain has always been close to him.

Analyze and look at the numbers rationally without drinking the obama kool aid. Even if Obama's policy's are better than Mccain's, generally speaking most people don't vote for who has the better policies but who they can relate to.

Besides as a muslim, how is Obama any different than Mccain on issues that matter to muslims?

Never trust the polls. The reason why he is ahead is b/c they just had their convention although, the RNC offered no insight to any of their policies and bored us with bios of McCain over and over and over again. The republican ticket has no chance and like Michael Moore said last night on Larry King, this is the easiest elections for the Democratic to win in the history of election and any polically savy individual would agree to that. As a woman, I'm actually offended by McCain pick of VP, I mean sure she is a woman and all but does he think woman will vote for him b/c of that. The fact that she is a hockey mom actually convinces me that she is not ready for this job.

You're not the target with sarah palin pick, a young, single, minority somali woman?

The target is middle aged hockey mom's with many kids from middle america, now are you telling me those women are not excited for a chance to see a female vice president even possibly president? Every political pundit even the ones that lean left have grudgingly accepted that palin is getting people especially women on the right excited.

Btw, since you're a muslim woman and palin is pro-life shouldn't you be on the same side as her at least on social issues?

Ummmm I'm not SINGLE.

But you are right, I'm definitely out of her demographic but still, does the average hockey mom in America really want the VP and possible president of America to be someone who have no experience what so ever in Washington or better yet foreign affairs? Surely she is something to be excited about, but when it comes to the issues, she is no match for Biden.

As for being a pro-life, well I am and I do agree with her but that is not what is important to me, nor do I care about the ruling on it. Let her talk about the economy, the ever so high gas prices, education, foreign policies of the US and I'm all ears.

If you do remember, john kerry destroyed bush on the national debates, kerry had a real military record but was swift boated etc. What happened? kerry lost.

Elections are about perception, a story, as much as it's about issues for many voters(usually the less educated working class) and this is universal, you should know that by now.

Rebel,

You have a point there, but the truth is, Every single candidate has a story that can not be ignored. Those same less educated middle class American could be the ones wondering if a mother of five with a 4 month old baby with Dawn Syndrome has the time to lead and focus on their issues. They could be wondering, about her pregnant teen daughter, her principles and character, what does that say about her? Lest not be hasty and jump to conclusions here, if its about perception then Obama has the upper hand as a fatherless, mixed kid raised by a single mother and his grandparents. How many mothers know how it is to raise a fatherless child? I'll say plenty.

Kerry didn't fight back and defend himself and he was too nice. Obama is cleverly nice and he is charismatic and people will listen to him , he has a way with words that no republican has.

Obama is against the social issues Muslims stand on, he is ultra Liberal

but his policies favor people better and having a black man in the oval office =

And McCain got a boost due to the RNC, Obama had a 9 point lead in the average polls just 5 days ago because of the DNC boost.

Don't worry, Obama is winning the election
