I myself have been told my pronunciation of Arabic is sometimes more flawless than a native speaker by Arabic class teacher and I give all credit to the repitation and forced learning of tajweed by the former macalin. I agree with Ciyaal you can learn tajweed without speaking Arabic if your teacher knows the rules and I find Arabic is a unique language where you can learn to speak perfectly without even know the language.
