Brussels

The European Union (EU) disclosed that relations and cooperation with Eritrea that is in the process of development will have positive impact on the stability of the region. According to the information released following talks in Brussels with President Isaias Afwerki and the EU Commissioner for Cooperation and Development, Mr. Louis Michel, the discussions focusing on bilateral economic cooperation were constructive and positive. The information also pointed out that the discussions open an important chapter to both Eritrea and the EU.

The Commissioner further stated that the EU has allocated 122 million Euro in assistance for the period 2008-2013 for administrative capacity-building, infrastructure and food aid.
