Ahmed Gurey

Postby zackabdul » Fri Jun 08, 2007 8:44 pm

PLEASE STATE:

1. What he might've been.
2. And why you believe he is from that certain clan..

MY BELIEFS..

I believe Ahmed Gurey was either Cisse or Gadabursi..BECAUSE no other clans reside in Awdal other then the Dir..

From what I know:

Hawiye, Darood and Isaaq never lived in what is today Awdal back in the 1500s.

YOUR MORE THAN WELCOME TO SHARE YOUR OPINIONS.. Cool PLEASE KEEP THIS TOPIC PEACEFUL.

This topic is surely ignite alot of controversy but we all know the first time ahmed gureys identity turned into marexaan was when siad barre came to power. i will say this and will say it again there has never been a darood or hawiya that far up north throughout history. if he ever was a somali and he was he could only be two tribes which are samroon and Essa as for sacad musa we may have some that live in awdal close to the border town but aint no even isaaq that far inland and north. one thing i hope this topic doesnt turn into defaming each others tribe cause at the end of the dat Gurey didnt fight for a certain clan or for that matter a somalinimo he fought for a religion. It was well documented in somali history that when siad Barre came into power that he even lied about his birth place and said he was born in Somalia when infact he even wasnt and turned every major historical somali history peace into marexaan so that he could colrify his folks. one of the biggest examples also of that would be u would see some marexaan claming the darwish wars and history when everyone knows who it was. i have nothing against marxaans but just as every somali tribe has a certain person who destroyed their reputation and name for the marexaans it was Siad Barre.
