Ethics Of Internet Commercials!!!!

Postby IRONm@N » Thu Jun 21, 2007 12:40 am

Most 21 century businesses promote their products and services online because it’s cheap, easy and effective, but most of the Ads are annoying and intrusive. They were design to grab our attention that is why most of them pop up on the screen or flash or move about. Some times they automatically link you page after page. Some of them download spyware into your computer and steal valuable information about you. A recent survey by the Georgetown Business School states that “93% of commercial internet sites collect some sort of data that may be used to identify you (this may be your home address, you e-mail address, name, etc.) and 57% collect demographics.” Is it ethical for companies to collect our information with out permission? The answer is definitely no, then why are they doing it? Don’t they realize that it’s wrong to steal whether it’s in cyber-world or real world?
