i've been saying this for a while now, power and decision making has to be removed from the hands of the elders, dhalinyarada that have been raised and educated abroad can and will accomplish peace. it's what we all have in common and want, we're tired. let us go home and rebuild.

Alluring, that is an option but that negates women's role in the Somali civil war don't you think?

Dawladsade, that's an excellent question. It reminded me the saying; " Sidee Xeego loo xagtaa ilkana ku nabadgalaan"

I await others to answer...I have very little time right now, but I wanted to give you props for putting the question out there. up

Abdiwahab, come with something more practical.

Screw, do you know I learned about Somali politics/tribes because of schoolmates? Wallahi sxb, one of them (Somali_boqor) used to come to the politics section but not for a while, but it was because of them in high school and my embarrassing experience in Africa when I was asked "yaan ahay" and I only responded with my first two names drove my passion to master Somali geneology.

The case is much more muddled than elders/youth, instead there is no clear distinction that separates the two when it comes to qabyaalad.

DS

Regardless of race, nationality or wealth--men love being in power and to start pointless wars. I am not contradicting the fact that Somali women did a lot of harm as well in the Civil War, but most were uneducated, and were mislead by Somali men.

Alluring, you also need to come with something more practical. Sure putting all men in jails and letting the caring and merciful humanistic women in charge is an idea, but really it is a utopian idea. We want something more practical. What besides that do you see as a solution that you can provide a meaningful argument for?

but unlike our fathers and their fathers, when the fate of this nation is in our hands, we can agree to disagree, we're open minded and we're willing to compromise. wallahi billahi hadii kale history will continue to repeat itself and that will be the end for us.
