Cartan Boss if we are gonna remember old wars, and battles. How about this in 1868 between the Warsengeli + Dhulbahante against Cismaan Maxamoud. This is an excerpt from Wayne K Durill: Atrocious Misery: The african origin of famine in Norther eastern Somalia.

"The Majerteen sultan raised and army of seven thousand men, nearly every able-bodied adult male in a population of perhaps twenty-five thousand. The smaller warsengeli clan mustered only four thousand. Not surprisingly, the sultans larger army prevailed, aided by new firearms unavailable to its opposition. The Majerteens killed eight hundred Warsengali men in a nine hour battle. Later, the Dulbanhante, a third harti clan that had allied with the Warsangali, lost about six hundred men in a separate confrontation with the Ismaan Mahamoud. Charles Graves, an officer in the Egyptian, reported that the Dulbahante army was “nearly exterminate”.

First of All, that Author was entreated by Majeerteen historians to write this major war between Warsangeli adn Majeerteen in 1988(two years before the civil war) to which Aw Muuse made his epic poem, DArbadaaley, and which Warsangeli had the upper power, as it is clear from his big time Cry and Hue in the peom.

It was Majeerteen's side or traditional version of the story that he had written about it. It was disproven by Damallaxagare in his citation of the Egyptian Officer from a Book he had read. The Egyptian Officer who witnessed the battle never saw the Warsangeli casaulty and he reported that Warsangeli was the biggest and most formidable tribe in the region.
