Abdiwahaab,
Let me give you a better version of history, aside from the cave that was closed on Bucur Bacayr which caused the end of his life, his killer was most likely a somali , there are tow schools of history on the origin of Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle, one depict Yuusuf Al Kawnayn as some foreign non somali mullah and the other which is more reliable regard him as a somali Mullah.
The oldest Somali record mainly the oral history argue that Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle was a somali from the Ciidagale clan, also the oldest western refernce to Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle mainly the author of "Memior Of Western idoor Tribes" 1842 refer to him as " The great Garxajis saint".
Also his shrine near Hargaysa was built by Garxajis in early 1700 and in 1932 it was renevoted by 2 men both Garxajis, furthermore his shrine keeper for the past 300 years was Ciidagale. Also the Ciidagale in some of their potery such as Qawdhuaan Ducaale sultaan in more then one occasion claimed him to be among his ancestor.
One fact above all the negate his foreign origin is the fact that Yuusuf Al Kawaynayn was the first poineer in written somali , his " alif la kor dhabay, alif la hos dhabay" was the oldest form of Somali reading the Quraan.
There are sections of the Habar Gidir who trace their maternal ansestors to Yussuf's daughter if memory serves me well its among the Sacad,.
There is no such a curse , it just a merer compensations, the Yibir after the killing of Bucur Bacayr were asked by Yuusuf if they wanted to take an immdeiate one compensations or a foerver one, and they chose the later , henece every male Somali child's parent pay to the yibir the so called "samaayo" a an internal 'dia'.
The puzzling part is how this compensations included and spreaded to all somalis apart form the northerns. It could be that all Somalis in lived in northern area.
