Funny how this debate just kind of faded away.
For the first time since the Middle Ages, Arabic was the lingua franca in Mogadishu; Somali was practically a second language.
He is talking from his ass. Swahili was lingua franca was Eastern Africa and the Indian Ocean never Arabic. Somali has never came second best to any language in Somalia, not even colonial languages, never mind Arabic.

Why would I as a Somali want to harbour the Arab language? I am Somali, and I will stick with my language.

RELIGION and CULTURE are two different things, and they should stay that way. Arabman the confused Hawiye Hyena needs to go with Arabs since he LOVES them.

No they are not they just follow Wahabism. Hawiye are one of the few Somali tribes who never faked their lineage to Arabic ones.

hell yes, arabic is far superior. i dont care for the oil-rich obese camelhumpers, but i do care for the prophet (saws) and his sahaba (ra) and they were arabs so arabic would be lovely but a bit incovenient. i prefer a new alphabet. Smile

Hawiye have my highest respect for that reason. They are proud people, and they do it without lying to themselves about Arab folklore.

I still think the route of Arabman's arguement is religious, vice anything else.
