THINGS THAT MAKE ME GO ……..HMMMM.
On a documentary on BBC radio 4 ,a journalist reports how aid to build a university in rural Pakistan was stopped. The people were told go get permission from the chief and the chief says …. NO!
Its free we will pay for it all why don’t you want this university….
He says come with me and I’ll show you why.
The chief carrying a shotgun takes them to his hunting ground and pointing his gun at the sky shoots down some innocent bird. A group of Pakistani men swarming around the chief, all run to go and fetch .
Do you now see why? says the chief to the visitors……do you think that university educated men will compete to fetch me my hunt?
That is why I cant let you build this university here.
In Somalia I heard that a qaad chewing good for nothing brother kills another good for nothing qaad chewing brother. The clan that lost the man holds a meeting of elders and after a very long deliberation , they come up with the cleverest idea.
Have they (the other clan) got any doctors ,engineers or entrepreneurs’ ,rich individuals or any other men of ability? If the answer is yes …the order is given to go and kill that doctor or able person. They say we want them to weep and weep for a long time you know…that should teach them that we reer hebel are very proud peoples.
Travelling to Saudi for umra in 2001 ,I couldn’t help but notice that all the tramps looking in the bins for food were black! Holding a western passport the hospitality was amazing but the other religious pilgrims holding third world passports had to all endure long waits and bad attitudes . Most of them were much older than me and in all honesty it broke my heart.
Foreigners from third world living there have no rights regardless of duration of stay or importance of service and should a native hit them either by car or otherwise they will go to jail. A Bangladeshi friend who now lives in the u.k tells me of his personal experience in working in uae. You mention Arabs this man curses for hours and he is a very religious person. Men get raped believe it or not by women and they cant say no for she threatens to accuse if one fails to comply. A woman shouting foul play directly relates to the worst punishment without proper procedure.
Brothers will skin you alive if you mention these thing for they think that it is ISLAM that you attack …..hmmm.
In buurtinle a western NGO dug a well and laid pipes to provide running water for the town people. A group of young men ,after having had no qaad for a fortnight or so could not resist the temptation to dig out the pipes and sell them to the Ethiopians.
Most say loyalty must not waiver ,I do not think so ..maybe not but should loyalty not be to principals rather than individuals or groups. What do you think condemn or aid and abet.
And the list of horror stories is endless. Hmmmmm.
