Shirib, the whole Arab thing might be a myth. I've seen plenty of Raxanweins, a lot of them look way more Carab like than Issaqs and Daaroods. Somethings not adding up.

How the hell did i miss this thread well as i said many time there is no such thing as a somali race. Isaaq are Arab and so are Darood, Hawiya are cushetic so are Dir, Digil and Mirifle i guess are Sab so in that sense this bantu guy can claim somali as much as any Darood would cause at the end of the day they are both immigrants to the land.

There were cushetic people who were oromos, but after darood came and his offsprings started to mix with the cushetic people, and all this mixing happened, did a new ethnicity emerge, not fully cushetic-oromo nor arab, but a group called Somali, who mixed so much that they eventually started speaking one language, one religion, and culture. Before that you guys were just cushetic-oromos.

Ok so are u saying that we were not somali before u came? umm or are u implying that somehow Darood created the name somali and language by marrying the true inhabitants. No matter how long u immigrated u can never change ur race. just as the White american arrived 500 years ago from europe they will never be natives and will be Europeans, so in that sense u are a somali national but ur ethnicity is not somali ur an Arab so u must say am an Arab when someone wants to know ur ethnicity.

Didnt u read what i said Earlier i said we are all not realated period. Somali is not a race but a nationality to me. So this Bantu dude can claim he is somali as much as any Darood could. ETHNIC SOMALI

- Darood,Meheri and Isaaq they all call themsleves as arab origin
- Dir and Hawiye true somali origin (some say they are origin oromo others says arab origin)
- Digil & Mifirle true somali origin (their origin is unknown but may be oromo)

NON-ETHNIC SOMALI

- Batu are somali nationalities but NOT ethnic somali (origin from mozambique and tanzania)
- Reer xamar, shaanshi, reer Brawe and Arab yemenis are somalis nationalities but NOT ethnic somali (origin either from Yemen or Portugal)

Iam not confused dude. but does marrying into a society change ur ethnicity or background, i dont think so, My cousins are half french but reality is they will for ever be Somali because thats what their father is and u are what ur father is. Dir, Darood, Hawiye, Isaq, d&m are all ethnic somali despite darood and isaq claim to be arabs. Jareer weyn or somali bantu are somali nationalities and no one can deny it and it is big mistake AY call them they are not somali.
