Unclebin it is demeaning because Abdullahi Yusuf is not a Somali Elder in a Somali traditional authority position but the president of a nation, whose citizens also include Somali Bantu and all others. Even Arabs had seats in the Somali parliament during colonial times.
When it comes to the nation, ethnicity has nothing to do with it, nation includes all who have citizenship which Mawlid and the Bantu do, so in a sense by making the government a Somali ethnic group inclusive thing, Mawlid is right in saying abdullahi did not conduct himself as the president of the nation.
If he was a traditional leader however and this was a traditional council, he has a right in saying non-Somalis are not invited but it was not and so it was demeaning.
Pakistanis had seats in the Somali Goverment too. But that is wrong... No way in Hell a Somali is getting a seat in Pakistan.
Sxb, Somali Bantus have been in the Horn for 2 hundred years.... They have a homeland and that is Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi etc.....
A Somali born in Saudi Arabia to Somali parents born in Saudi Arabia born to Somali parent's in Saudi Arabia.... Will not get a Saudi Citizenship, and is not considered a Saudi.... Mawliid needs to realize he is NOT SOMALI.... But in every sense a Somali National..... Something that Somalis who have been living in Foreign lands for 100-150 years don't have priviledges of.
