Tell me if this lines from one of Jane Austen novel, Mansfield park-- is not a brilliant one? Tell me, that only a genius could have written this dialogue. I find it extremely sensual, sexy, witty and remarkable bewitching at the lack of a better word! Its playful-- Mary Crawford is a guest at the Mansfield park residence. A young woman from london, coming to visit the country family of the Bertrums. Here she is playful with the second son of the Bertrum family who aspires to be a clergy man. lol She finds clergy men BORING. loool
Miss Crawford: What a pity this is the LAST time i shall dance with you Mr. Bertrum.
Mr. Bertrum: Why is that, Miss Crawford?
Miss Crawford: Because the next time we meet, you shall be a clergy man.
Mr. Crawford: Yes, i go to York tomorrow.
Miss Crawford: I have never yet to dance with a clergy man and i Never will.
Mr. Bertrum: You are especially playful this afternoon, Miss Crawford.
Miss Crawford: You think if you shake me hard enough, something serious will 'drop' out of me, but i assure you i am profoundly shallow. A large income is the best recipe i ever heard of for happiness.
Mr. Bertrum: Then your Happiness is forever beyond my power, Miss Crawford.
