The Somali community multitudes of community services

Postby Shilling » Mon Apr 14, 2008 4:21 pm

Why can't we have mega community center like everyone else were the youth aren't excluded instead of the usual one room office with nothing but papers with reer hebel hebel interest?

I once had to do a community service for my school and I was given a paper with a list of at least 8 or so different Somali community services that all served the same propose...one of those WTF moment

What I found interesting was how one particular community is favored over the other in your household or am I alone on this?

We're a disgrace, every reer has their own community center and quite honestly its a big disgrace.

If we just came together and had one community or maybe even two or three instead of 15 we could accomplish a lot more, but we Somali's only know reer this and reer that

We should get a community center and completely throw Somali politics out of the window.

Nothing good can come from discussing whats goin back home or raising money for back home.

Just keep it to the city help the youth and stuff like that, focus on the local community and throw whatever happens in Somalia out of the window, cause that only causes division.

The disunity doesn't even have to do with reer hebel honestly.

The heads of these communities just use reer hebel as an excuse to open another community and then they can sit on their ass and get government money for doing nothing, then they get there reer hebel homies to sign some b.s for them.

Its a way to s*ck money from the government. All the Somali communities should be shut down and government should stop funding them until they get their shit together and make a unity community.

Infact all cities should have a code sayin u can't have more than 3 Somali communities.

I agree with you Shirb. Now, how do we do this. There are too many Somali organizations here in Toronto and they don't do jack shit for the community.

Shirib, you raise some important issues, honestly if we were serious about such problems it is easy to solve since all it take is a letter to your local congress representative or senator. I'm sure if you Google there names right now you could find their addresses or even emails if you wanted to.

But you know how we Somalis are ignorant about things, some of us aren't even aware that they have congress representatives or senators who they could raise their concerns with.

Simple write a letter to your local parliament members. Sometime is better to turn words into action.

Unfortunately I think the elders in the community are okay with there status quo.

Yea we could try to revolutionize things but the old folks will be talking about this and that and how we're ruining stuff forever.

I don't know what we could right to the congressman that will help. We have to work ourselves out first. The members of the community have to get it together and work something out before they go to the congressmen.

Or at least thats what I think.
