Somalis and Government housings..

Postby Alchemist » Tue May 20, 2008 9:20 pm

I went to visit a friend of mine the other day.. In his building by the elevators there was a written notice, one in english and the other in somali.. At first i was like oh cool, is so nice that they got one in somali for those who dont understand but than i thought to myself damn are there really that many somalis here in this place that they have to start translating everything into somali..

Somali families are moving into the ghettos rapidly more than any other race.

No wonder a lot of somali youths are ending up in prisons or becoming baby mamas..

Alchemist, as a product of Toronto metro housing, I take great offense at your comments.

My mom was telling me that back in the 90s, there were hardly any Somalis in government housing. But ever since 2000, more and more are moving there. I feel really sorry for any kids that live next door to drug dealers. Its there parents' fault.
There's no shortage of affordable housing around Toronto. You do not need to resort to the ghettos. Somali parents, WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!! Thank you allah, I grew up in a great neighbourhood and not those shitty projects.

We are not new to the country any more. The people moving to government housing have been living in Canada since 1988 or 1992. Somali people need to WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!

 ashlee i lived in metro housing for a while too but you must admit, just because things went well for you it doesnt mean it will go well for everyone else..

Somali parents are just trying to save couple dollars and in the process lose their kids..

If the youth doesnt have a strong will than ofcourse he/she will follow the actions of the majority..

Let me ask you this, do you want your children to grow up in metro housing?

First of all, TWO Somali boys 18 and under have died b/c they were hanging out in government housing. How many more Somali boys need to die? Your son is being influenced by drug dealers and gang members. Somali parents, WAKE UP!!!!!!!

snowflakes, if u be honest most of the somali parents arent qualified to do well paid jobs so they are not going to be able to afford good houses in good areas. as soon as your off benefits it costs 600 houndred a mounth for a council house and thats quite a lot of thier wage when they arent bein payed that much

Go to school. No degree, no good jobs. You're never too old to get a degree. If you want a good life for your kids, then swallow your pride and get a degree. It is very degrading to depend on the government. Maybe things in the UK work different, but here in North America, it is SHAMEFUL to be on benefits. Any able bodied person needs to work hard for they have.

Firefly,

Metro housing = council estates = ghettos = section 8

snowflakes, i think its different in canada when i was over most people had big houses. in the UK housing is expensive. if u dont have qualification ur harldy gonna have enought money for a good house let alone cut out parentin hours to revise. im not sayin its impossible but its difficult. over here in the UK it is bad to be dependent on benefits buts its understandable for new families

True, but, still, it's not half as bad as snowflakes is making it out to be.

Dixon is not a government housing complex. People pay upwards of $1200/mnth for those apartments. And save your bullet proof vest. You have more of a chance of having some coffee thrown at you from some of the odeys at the Country Style than being hit by a stray bullet. The place is a joke.
