In Somali you can found the must beautiful landscape/people/tradition/.But thinks are changing...culturally wise..our generation appreciate more west culture then ours...you can see those changes if you wake the streets of Xamar everywhere there are abundance of advertise from the latast BOLLYWOOD film/music..you can skip hearing this terrible HINDI MUSIK. I really hate that...

I don't wish that Somali's were still like that. Imperialism taught us that staying technologically primitive while other nations advanced ahead only makes it more likely to be invaded and occupied by said nations, producing Imperialism. How about some good old technological advancement, eh? You know, the kind brought about by private property, free markets and the such?

Culture is resilient, and can adapt when there is organic and gradual change. It breaks down when it is confronted by more technologically advanced cultures, hence the abandonment of traditional cultures all over the world in favour of the Western stuff.

Okaaay so it wasnt always peaceful..but there was relative peace and if they fought it was only with spears and other simple weapons, hardly going to create a refugee problem

I dont even recognise those people..whatever happened to us? Look at those men's hairstyles so unqiue ma arkagtaan it even has a particular shape to it..the spears , the traditional clothes, the guntino so simple yet beautiful, where have they all gone?? :| I always believed the biggest tragedy to happen to any country is imperialism..the importing and transporting of alien laws and traditions to a totally different environment and people. Why was the notion of nation-state introduced to free spirited NOMADS who roamed those lands for centuries ? Why did people come and impose their culture specific way of life on us masakiin

I would love to time travel..nothing can compare with that life EVER..the unfettered simple life..the rich culture, the eloquent poetry, the lovely harmonious communal life. Who wants modern life with all its complexities and diseases, pollution, oppressive bills, mortgages, taxes, souless gigantic supermarkets, rude and obnoxious people etc etc ..the list is never ending.

What happened to Somalia is not just the destruction of a nation but the destruction of our culture as well. Its really sad. You can accuse me of romanticising the past but do i care?? I also prefer the classical songs ey cudka lugu qaado to the ones sung with electronic musical instruments..I even thought of getting myself an cud and hanging it on the wall ..am i weird tolay?

Oh how i wish i came from THAT Somalia not the colonised raped, plundered and bloody hell hole of today. :x
I wish i knew those people..im wish i knew their different gabays and more importantly what they were gabying about

Those people are long dead May their souls rest in peace amiin and May Allah s.w.t help us and rescue us from this dark bottomless pit amiin :|

Anyways what do you all think?[/quote]

god bless you. thank god im not the only somali guy that knows his history and his real culture. remember that we belong to the cushitic tribes we were one of the largest group belonging to abbysinia so i think the bible must has mentiod somalis.we use to even caabuud black god i think their is where names like caabuudwaaq puntland came from. remember that we have a high position and was chosen by god thats why you see these beautiful ppl watching and dressed like kings and queens. why else do you think a elder with high position in a certain group/clan is calles sultan ama boqar?we forgot out history and our culture and i say the problem is colinization even though the westernes whernt that really succesfull but i say the problem is the way religion was spread by scholars and group ppl like zionists you can say wahabists and are holding ppls high position wisdom down by brainwashing their history in the name of islam for example. sad sad sad. we must go back to our roots like the rastafarians do and see we have the same negroe hair if we now put dreadlocks iour orginal hair nit you can see how beautiful we look like.
