Birth control is more crucial during post-partum than at any other time, after the 6 week period is over, most Somali husbands can hardly wait to do it, if a woman isn't on birth control, she'll probably conceive before the uterus ever had a chance to heal and that can lead to a multitude of health complications. This happens with Somalis on a frequent basis, you'll see a woman who's got a 6 month old baby and she's 3 months pregnant, that shyt isn't healthy.

Intrauterine device (IUDs) are more effective than the pill, the 5 year IUD from Mirena releases progesterine, while the 10 year copper IUD does not, the whole procedure takes less than 10 mins. at the OBGYN and the woman can have it removed at anytime.

Intrauterine device can couse alot of infections and menstrual periods are often heavier, more painful.In worst cases the whole uterus can get removed because of the infections.

There are diff birth control pills...the one called Mini-pill is save...you should be careful with Combination birth control pills that contains the hormones estrogen and progesterone.

it does matter as serious side effects vary with most contraceptives. and the patch has serious side effects as well. your last option is your best bet but kinda hard to do if your married.
