This is sad day for all Somalis, Kenya and Somalia had long time ago demarcated their border line, the only reason to redemarcate again is Kenya wants to snatch more coastal lands from Somalia, and this is their long waited chance to score it, recently Kenyan journalist proposed the southern part of Somalia should be added to Kenya for the greater good of the nation. For the past 18 years Kenya have been collecting on the behalf of Somalia marine and air space usage taxes, tens of millions of dollars of taxes belonged to the poor Somalis were falling to the hands of the corrupted officials in Kenya, even the stable Somaliland are not allowed to collect its air and marine space taxes.

The lack of unity government in Somalia had become big profit in the neighbouring countries, I am sure the Somali prime minister could have said no to this scam, but in the real world your government represent you and his signature finishes the deal.

guys, this is a small part of a larger re-zoning of Somalia's territorial waters. Read this extensive report (too bad if u can't read Somali). The north is more alarming because our territory will be less than 50 miles. It looks like when all this is completed, international fishing fleets will have the UN backing if they want to fish @ just 50 miles away from Hargeisa or Bosaso. They will have the permission to dump toxic waste @ our front door.

NAIROBI, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Kenyan and Somali governments on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding on their maritime boundary.

The agreement will facilitate the presentation of Kenya's submissions to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf by May as required under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

According to the provisions of UNCLOS, coastal states intending to delineate the outer limits of their continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles are required to submit particulars of such limits with supporting scientific and technical data to CLCS.

The preparation of Kenya's claim for submission requires the cooperation of its neighbors Tanzania and Somalia.

This is because, UNCLOS provides that states that have adjacent coastlines to each other need to conclude agreements on the delimitation of their maritime boundaries for their Territorial Sea, Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelves by means of an agreement in order to achieve an equitable solution.

Kenya Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula signed the agreement with Somalia Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Shermake.

Wetangula said the preparation of Kenya's claim for submission requires the cooperation of its neighbors, Tanzania and Somalia.

"This is because, the convention provides that states that have adjacent coastlines to each other need to conclude agreements on the delimitation of their maritime boundaries for their territorial sea, exclusive economic zone and continental shelves by means of an agreement in order to achieve an equitable solution", he said.

Wetangula said the government has negotiated the maritime agreement with the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.

The minister said the government is also in the process of concluding a similar agreement with the Tanzanian government.

tw, i think it is too naive to think that Mr. Sharif is unaware of this. The press in Somalia should question him about this and the proposed reduction of overall Somalia waters.

this an utter disgrace and abosulately heart breaking but what enrages me and disheartens me is the deafening silence that is coming from somalis. somalis demostrate for palestinians and protest for omer al bashir but when it comes to defending the country they are not interested. i'm even dispointed by the reaction of somalis on this forums. come on if this thread was titled qabil x annexs qabil y's land this thread would be 20 pages long
