I wouldn't be surprised if there were more 'mixed' Somalis like her.
This is true. I know of a few of these guys in this area.
They married, they maybe had a kid or no kids at all.... then they divorced the woman. Theres this one guy who went to Kenya and married a Somali girl... already has a kid with her but he is still married to his madow wife of 20 odd years (no kids)...smh
One time, there was a campaign event for a local Somali running for a poisition in the State gov't.... and there was a guy there with his mom... and the guy's dad was apparently in the same room but he doesn't want anything to do with them.
Pretty focked up.
I actually know a guy on campus who is Half Somali... his mom is from Trinidad and thankfully his Mom is Muslim.... his dad is dead but I wouldn't be suprised if his dad was one of the Somalis who came here 20-25 years ago and their visa ran out and they had to marry a black woman to stay in the USA.
When the USA implemented their immigration reform in 1987 under Reagan, it gave a lot of people including the few Somalis that were here illegally amnesty and a way to get their citizenship.
My dad who was my age when he came here in 81 told me a few men he knows divorced their madow or cadaan wives shortly thereafter and ended up with most of their current Somali wives.
