China and Russia were behind the Sri lankan army 100% while Canada and UK supported the LTTE, China provided so much for the army and I am hearing because of it, China will be giving a port in the North (Tamils land), anywho u have to respect the tigers, velupillai prabhakaran, the single leader of the tigers since 1983 along with his top deputy commanders accompanied by 300 rebel fighters charged an army of 30,000 strong, eventually being crushed within hours. There's mass celebration in the streets of sri lanka today.

I like what India said though.

India asked Sri Lanka to ensure “effective devolution of power” so that Tamils in the island nation could live with dignity, and pledged to help in rehabilitation efforts. The external affairs ministry said: “it is our view that... this is the moment when the root cause of conflict in Sri Lanka can be addressed... This would include political steps towards the effective devolution of power within the Sri Lankan Constitution so that Sri Lankans of all communities, including the Tamils, can feel at home and lead lives of dignity of their own free will.”

Hopefully things will turn out better for the Tamil populations.

The U.N needs to lift the arms-embargo in the country and let the government arms itself, improve the current military. Re-establish the Somali Air force. From there, the government can bomb the shit out of Al-Shabaab camps and bases.
