Baana Olio vs rooti Shabeele

Alla badownimo haddana la is moodo reer magaal maxaan ka yaabay :?:

In Mogadisho, families who thought they were "Ilbax" will drive all the way to a bakery under Shabeele Hotel to buy "Rooti Bana Olio" while Rooti Baana Shabeele was available every corner...Waa la is xarxariifin jirey laakin the reality was the "Rooti Bana Shabeele" was more healthy no matter what where it was sold or what "Dambiil" it was carried

The bakery in Jilib was in an carish between the meat market and the dry suuq. The oven was brick and clay, what they call a horno in Latin American countries. It was wood-fired, so there were the occasional litle bits of duxul or ash on the bottom of the rooti.

Wonderful stuff, especially if you could get white Italian butter to go with it. Otherwise, olio saliid or semsem or suugar would work. Even dry was acceptable, with shax. That was breakfast on many of my mornings.

The bakery also made a hale-flavored cookie. It was filling and tasted great, but always gave me constipation.

 @baana olio.. haven't heard that word for a long time.

Kambuli, you get to learn a lot of grammatical errors and mispronunciations once you go to Italy..lol

Pane Olio is the correct word.. but its close in somali anyways..and whats baane shabeele?

I think the aroma and the taste is what ppl liked as supposed to it being healthy or making ppl feel reer magaal etc etc.
And it was made in a cleaner environment..lets face it..than say the muufo .lol

It happens all across black Africa. In West Africa, idea for growing rice, the locals prefer the foreign rice to domestic one. Same thing happens for milk. They prefer Dutch made powdered milk to local made fresh milk.

Can't blame them. Imports are always more expensive even here in the West.
