Is Life worth...

Is life worth $8k? How do some people live with themselves. This dude I know bilked 6 naive and gullible folks out of $8k each and burned the whole thing in two days. Some of folks are now broke and can't even afford basic amenities. At first I was laughing at what happened to one of them as he tells me this over the phone only to actually feel sorry for him later. Am getting soft here or are we meant to empathize with the shacabka? Should I have had a smirk on my face instead and thought to myself a fool and his money are lucky enough to get together in the first place.

To swindle the destitute is immoral and down right wrong. $8K may be a lifetime's savings for someone.

It was a life time savings to some of these folks as they are now on dead end with no way out of this debt. The most astonishing part here being this dude is one savvy smooth talker who I've always thought was a big whale chaser up to now. I guess greed doesn't discriminate, be it poor rich, old, young, mothers, brothers.
