PL & Maakhir: Setting the record Straight

Postby Highland » Tue Aug 11, 2009 5:36 pm

Upon the formation of PL, it was the late sultan Abdisalaan who lectured and made it clear to the Harti leaders on Warsangeli's role and representation in PL. The representation will be limited to the Warsangeli who indeed settle the Bari region and that the Sanaag region shall maintain its independent and autonomous Status as it has been. It was agreed.
Thus the two Speakers of the Parliament were directly selected from Dubeys and Warlabe sub-clans -two reer Bari sub-clans of Warsangeli. So, in reality this 16% of the PL Assembly corresponds to the representation of Dubeys and Warlabe constituencies from Bari region and whose portion of Bari settlements make up 200KMsq.

All in all, PL falls under Majerten regions and districts with the exception of western Bari and Bosaaso in which the Dubeis sub-clan predominantly settle.

As of now, General Cabdullahi intends on reconciling PL and Maakhir under a Federal model. He promised to build up local governments, make the Assembly more representative and create and modernize a huge army on top of building the Sanag port.
He has already done a significant portion of the above projects.

Let's give him a chance and see how everything transpires.
God Bless our region: Maakhir
