Though Gen. Abdullahi established 8 key installments with a legal mandate to monopolize voilence in Sanaag and western Bari(his clan's stronghold), he has yet to deliver on his promises. He will be judged and remembered for what he accomplishes in the months and years to come. I believe the only solution to our problems is to form our own state. We get natural harbors and great resources to tap. If Maakhir is declared through the traditional sanction of Warsangeli sultanates and elders as well the clans that live with us in a major conference, we can immediately secure a de facto recognition. The benefits of having a state at this juncture of Somalia's history are as follows:1. Our regions shall get a de facto recognition and it will no longer be deemed as disputed territory.2. We can easily implement major projects without directly asking either PL or SL for their approval as the agency HR had done. 3. We shall have our politicians get elected directly from their own districts like the USP did to some extent instead of getting lumped up as Harti. Territorial Council Representation established by our own state is the key to correcting structural disadvantages since we have a huge, resource-rich swathes of land and major towns. This mechanism is more beneficial to Warsans than seeking our political rights within Harti. 4. We can further develop our land by entering into treaties and trade agreements with any multinational company or any nation like the Warsangeli sultanate did once. All of these benefits can't be sacrificed by Ilkajiir. I hope his trusted leadership does not turn into a total disaster and humiliation. He has to be realistic and strong. He get the support of his clan and many sections across Somali communities.
